Community & Staff Support Project

Supporting the community and each other

Salinas Valley Health has always made community service a key pillar of our mission and core values. We encourage employees to give back and each year they donate thousands of hours of their personal time to supporting charities, non-profit organizations and events. As our organization and the community respond to the challenges of COVID-19, we’re proud to form new partnerships to meet evolving needs during these unprecedented times.

When the stay at home order impacted Californians for months, demand for outpatient and elective procedures at Salinas Valley Health dropped significantly and even today, restrictions remain in place that prohibit business as normal. At the height of the pandemic, that created additional capacity within our healthcare system and an opportunity to re-deploy some of our staff in a different way. Some 250 members of our Salinas Valley Health team assisted with various community outreach and support efforts which we called our Community and Staff Support Project. Our primary focus at this stage of the pandemic is to help vaccinate as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. Please continue to wear a mask and practice all social distancing protocols.

We thank all the non-profits and other organizations who reached out to Salinas Valley Health for community support and express our appreciation for the privilege of serving our community both in a medical center environment and in other less traditional and personal ways in our neighborhoods. We are partners in your health and encourage you to join us in other health and wellness efforts including Blue Zones Project Monterey County.
