Tenth Consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade

In a national release out today, Salinas Valley Health has earned a tenth consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a leading national nonprofit watchdog group. The independent organization assigns letter grades to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 measures of clinical data points demonstrated to uphold the highest standards of patient safety.
“It takes focus and dedication by every person in our organization to consistently receive the highest marks for safety,” says Allen Radner, MD, Salinas Valley Health Interim CEO. “As a practicing physician and member of our leadership team, safety is a cornerstone of the quality care we deliver to everyone in our community. We could not achieve the quality recognition we do without first having an intense commitment to safety.”
The Hospital Safety Score uses more than 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single letter grade ranging from “A” to “F”. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group to represent a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm.
