Amy L. Stemerman, MD

About the provider

Amy Stemerman, MD, grew up on the Central Coast of California and earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana. She completed her diagnostic radiology residency and fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. After finishing her fellowship in body MRI, including special training in breast imaging and breast MRI, she was excited to return to her hometown and begin her practice in general diagnostic radiology and breast imaging.

Dr. Stemerman has served as medical director of the Nancy Ausonio Breast Health Center since before it opened. She is also co-medical director of Diagnostic Imaging at Salinas Valley Health and medical director of Imaging.

With the support of her excellent staff and administrators, Dr. Stemerman has implemented a breast cancer screening program offering personalized risk assessment for every patient, genetic testing, high quality mammography/tomosynthesis, screening breast ultrasound and breast MRI. The program is recognized as an American College of Radiology Designated Breast Imaging Center. She takes pride in caring for her patients with the empathy and kindness she would share with her own family.

Dr. Stemerman encourages women to undergo yearly breast screenings. Her goal is to find breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable forms and ultimately save more lives in the community,

Married, with three amazing children, Dr. Stemeran says spending time with her family, hiking, cooking and traveling are her favorite things to do outside of work.
