There are few things in life that are more important than being a mom and
that role had special significance at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare
System on this Mother’s Day. At least three women gave birth today
at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital including 32 year old Erika Gonzales
“It is such a special mother’s day gift,” says mother
Erika Gonzales. “Ezekiel is my little angel and he is so precious.”
Baby Ezekiel was born at 8:13 this morning, weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces
and is 20 inches long. The couple’s third son wasn’t due until
May 27th but came early and quickly. Mom said she experienced a little
pain at home and woke up her husband Jesus. Nurses were preparing to take
her to a room when she went into labor and 15 minutes later, Ezekiel was born.
“This was a very easy delivery, especially for me,” joked
dad Jesus Gonzales. “We’ve had all three of our sons here
and the nurses and staff are great. We feel very well cared for at Salinas
Valley Memorial Hospital.”
The Gonzales’ other two sons are eight and two. They visited their
new brother today and the older one gave his mom a handmade Mother’s Day card.
Years ago, SVMHS President and CEO Pete Delgado started a Mother’s
Day tradition at Salinas Valley Memorial. Every female patient receives
a rose with a card and every female employee receives a Starbuck’s
gift card along with a note of appreciation.
