Support & Answers for Patients at SVMHS
Questions about billing or insurance can seem overwhelming—you shouldn’t
have to worry about any surprises during this time. Our goal at Salinas
Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) is to provide you with the best
care in every aspect. This includes ensuring that the billing process
is as easy as possible and that you have any questions answered. Contact

Online Bill Pay
You can save time and money by using our online bill pay option. For your
convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
Other Forms of Payment
Our Patience Financial Services Department will accept cash, money orders
or debit payments.
Your access to our services is important to us. We work closely with you to assure you are able to receive outstanding
care. We will directly bill your Insurance/HealthPlan/Payor and may ask
you to pay deductibles/estimated co-insurance prior to care. Please bring
your Insurance/HealthPlan ID card with you when you visit us. Patients
without insurance will be asked to pay prior to receiving care. It is
possible in some situations our Financial Councilors can assist you, if
you meet certain poverty minimum guidelines.
SVMHS has many HealthPlan relationships, including those listed below.
If you see that your HealthPlan is not listed, ask if we can reach out
to them to negotiate a Single Case Agreement (SCA). We will attempt to
contact your HealthPlan and work on your behalf to be cared for at SVMHS.
If you have any questions or special requests, please contact our Patient
Financial Services Department. We can directly contact your HealthPlan
to discuss eligibility and benefits on your behalf.

In addition, Covered California covers two Health Plans for the Salinas
Valley and Monterey County community residents:
Anthem (Pathways) and Health Net. SVMHS is a Contracted Hospital for both of these Covered California options.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) & You
Uninsured patients have access to a new Health Insurance Exchange through
the Affordable Care Act signed by President Obama in 2010. Visit the new
Healthcare website for more information about the Affordable Care Act. If you are uninsured,
or if your employer does not provide health coverage, this Exchange gives
you the ability to effectively comparison shop for the coverage that best
meets your needs.
California’s Exchange is called
Covered California. You can use this resource to find the best insurance for you and your
family. You can also find out whether you qualify for Medi-Cal, as well
as other programs.

You have access to answers, support and assistance through MedAssist—a
community resource designed to help residents across the Salinas Valley,
Monterey Peninsula and the surrounding region navigate the opportunities
made available through healthcare reform. SVMHS is pleased to partner
with MedAssist for your benefit. We are happy to answer your questions
about healthcare changes and to walk you through the enrollment process.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
SVMHS offers a Financial Assistance Program. Please read more about the
Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital supports transparency and consumer education
in the often complex landscape of healthcare. As part of that effort,
we support and comply with requirements by the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide patients with an online list of standard
charges of all items and services provided by the hospital.
Click here to view the list of charges. It's important for consumers to realize the line item amounts are
not necessarily an estimate of the amount due or the amount paid. The
actual charges vary depending on a variety of factors including insurance
carrier. Consumers are urged to contact their insurance provider when
conducting any price analysis or comparisons. Our Financial Services Department
is also available to answer any questions related to standard charges,
specific procedure costs, insurance coverage, and deductibles. You can
