Susan Bacon Cancer Resource Center

Transforming Care for Those Battling Cancer

The Susan Bacon Cancer Resource Center serves as a critical place of care for those in our community who are battling cancer, providing the support that they need right here in the Salinas Valley.

It started with just one donor, Susan Bacon, and has been supported by hundreds who care about helping their neighbors fight cancer and win.

Twenty years ago, Susan Bacon was a young mother battling colon cancer with the services of Salinas Valley Health Medical Center. That struggle didn’t stop her from dreaming and giving back. Her experiences told her that our community needed the best resources to give cancer patients the best chance for survival. Unfortunately, we couldn’t save Susan, but before her death, she made plans to help save many others.

Today, donors to the Susan Bacon Cancer Resource Center provide additional resources at no cost for patients. Access to reliable transportation so that patients never have to miss a treatment. Coverage for food and gas while cancer patients wait to receive disability insurance so they can focus on their treatment—not worrying about how they will provide for their family. Headscarves and support through the Look Good Feel Better program so that patients maintain their self-esteem through this trying time. This is how you have—and continue—to care for the community.
