SVMHS Recognized in 2023 Best Hospitals Issue

October 28, 2022 -The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) for extraordinary cardiac care and dedication to cardiovascular patients in the 2023 "Best Hospitals" issue of U.S. News & World Report.

“We have an exceptionally talented team,” says Pete Delgado, president/CEO at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. “We take pride in the advanced technologies we offer the community however, it is the skilled physicians and staff that elevate our cardiac care to the level of being among the best in the country.”

SVMHS is committed to reporting crucial data including STEMI (ST-segment Elevated Myocardial Infarction) and non-STEMI patient outcomes to the ACC “Chest Pain-MI Registry.” Based on care provided, SVMHS earned the ACC’s highest achievement status of “Platinum” in 2022. The ranking analyzes a number of clinical care metrics and to achieve Platinum status, hospitals must meet certain criteria consistently for a period of two consecutive years. Each year, the ACC highlights hospitals providing optimal cardiac care in the Best Hospitals issue of US News & World Report.

“When patients come to us, many have done their research,” says Vincent DeFilippi, SVMHS cardio thoracic surgeon. “The Society of Thoracic Surgeons looks at three years of data and we’ve received the highest rating possible for bypass surgery, an achievement reached by only 5-7% of comparable hospitals. The success and caliber of our program is reassuring to heart patients looking at their options.”

SVMHS uses proven quality programs from ACC and the American Heart Association to meet and exceed guidelines for high standards of quality care. The latest recognition can be viewed in the 2023 Best Hospitals edition of U.S. News & World Report. Learn more about comprehensive cardiovascular services at svmh.com/heart.
