SVMHS Marks One Year Anniversary of Magnet® Recognition <br>Rising to New Heights

May 19, 2022 marks the one-year anniversary of Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System earning Magnet® designation – the gold standard of nursing excellence as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program.

Magnet is an evidence-based framework for best practices in ensuring clinical and organizational excellence. The Magnet Recognition Program® designates organizations worldwide in which nursing leaders successfully align their strategic goals to improve the organization’s outcomes. Only 9% of hospitals nationwide earn this prestigious achievement.

“Magnet is a nursing designation,” says Rebecca Rodriguez, BSN, RN, CEN, Clinical Excellence Specialist for the Magnet Program. “However, all staff play a part in making SVMHS a great place to work and receive care – which is what the Magnet program is all about.”

The process of pursuing Magnet recognition provides a roadmap for clinical and nursing excellence that advances and benefits the entire organization. For patients, Magnet recognition ensures the highest quality care, delivered by nurses who are encouraged and supported to be the very best in their chosen professional. SVMHS is the first Magnet recognized healthcare organization on the Central Coast.

The one-year anniversary was marked with a campus wide celebration and activities.
