The Salinas Valley Health Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution during tonight’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting honoring the life of former Salinas Valley Health board member Alfred Diaz-Infante. Diaz-Infante passed away unexpectedly August 9.

“It was an emotional evening,” said Victor Rey, Board president for Salinas Valley Health. “Alfred was a true champion of expanding access to quality healthcare. We wanted his impact and legacy to be a permanent part of our Healthcare System’s official record.”

Members of the Diaz-Infante family were present as Salinas Valley Health President/CEO Pete Delgado read the resolution and held a moment of silence in honor of Diaz-Infante who served on the Salinas Valley Health Board of Directors from 2017-2018. The resolution commends Diaz-Infante for his many community contributions as well as the guiding principles and characteristics  that marked his life. The full text of the resolution is as follows:

NO. 2021-03 OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF

SALINAS VALLEY MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Honoring the life of Alfred Diaz-Infante 

Whereas, Salinas Valley Health and the broader Salinas Valley region lost a valued community leader on  August 9, 2021 with the death of Alfred Diaz-Infante;

Whereas, Alfred Diaz-Infante served as a director representing Zone Three on the Salinas Valley Health Board of Directors from 2017 – 2018;

Whereas, Alfred Diaz-Infante was a passionate advocate and thoughtful leader, making a significant impact in local housing, education, healthcare, and beyond;

Whereas, Alfred Diaz-Infante was a powerful voice for change, devoting 24 years to creating affordable housing for our community; 

Whereas, As Treasurer of the Salinas Valley Health Board of Directors, Alfred Diaz-Infante was instrumental in creating increased access to healthcare through his support of the Salinas Valley Health Taylor Farms Family Health & Wellness Center, the Salinas Valley Health Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic, and the Blue Zones Project Monterey County;

Whereas, Alfred Diaz-Infante worked to support Salinas Valley Health’s collaboration with Hartnell College Nursing and Health Sciences, strengthening the career pathway to nursing and allied health services at Salinas Valley Health for students at Hartnell College; 

Whereas, Alfred Diaz-Infante demonstrated authentic character, profound commitment to community, and always acted with kindness and compassion for all;

Whereas, The true legacy of Alfred Diaz-Infante lies in the far-reaching impact his work had on countless number of people whose lives were improved because of his life’s work and charitable contribution of his time and talents;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:

On behalf of the Salinas Valley Health, the members of the Board of Directors recognize with great admiration and appreciation the contributions of Alfred Diaz-Infante and extends its sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

The foregoing Resolution was passed by the following vote of the Board of Directors of Salinas Valley Health at its regular meeting on August 26, 2021.
