SVMHS Updates Visitor Policy to Protect Patients and Staff

Salinas Valley Memorial HealthcareSystemis taking additional measures to reduce the spread of COVID 19 in the community. A no visitor policy goes into effect tonight and applies to Healthcare System hospital and clinics.
There are limited circumstances in which a visitor will be allowed including the following:
- Two parents or legal guardians for NICU and pediatric patients.
- One birth partner in the Labor & Delivery, Obstetric Emergency Department (OB-ED) and Mother/Baby units.
- One caregiver as a constant companion who actively assists with the patient’s care.
- One assistant during an outpatient appointment who needs help walking, getting to the bathroom or understanding instructions.
- One parent if the patient is a minor being seen in the emergency department or during an outpatient appointment.
- End of life patient care situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis with a maximum of two visitors.
SVMHS recommends using FaceTime, Skype or the patient room phone to connect with loved not allowed to visit patient stay. The policy will be reevaluated at a later date. For additional measures in place at SVMHS, visit svmh.com/coronavirus.
