Salinas Valley Health Farmers’ Market kicks off Friday, May 19th from 1:30pm to 5:30pm. The Certified Farmers’ Market offers fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and other items - many of them organically grown by family farmers.

“Hosting a weekly Farmers’ Market on campus is one way we encourage and promote healthy eating in our community,” says Pete Delgado, President/CEO of Salinas Valley Health. “We are fortunate to live in an area with an abundance of local produce and it’s great to bring those healthy choices directly to our patients, families, neighbors and employees.”

The Salinas Valley is known as the Salad Bowl of the World and unlike other parts of the country, many locally grown and harvested edibles are available year round. Eating and cooking fresh produce is part of a healthy lifestyle, which can reduce the risk of illness and disease.

People who receive CalFresh benefits (food stamps) and who use their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards at the Farmers’ Market can receive bonus money toward the purchase of fruits and vegetables. The Farmers’ Market is supported and funded by Salinas Valley Health.

Salinas Valley Health Farmers’ Market begins the 2017 season Friday, May 19th from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the MIR parking lot of the hospital at the corner of Wilgart Way and East Romie Lane. Free valet parking is available in the parking garage on Wilgart Way. The Salinas Valley Health Farmers’ Market takes place every Friday through October 20th.
