David E. Ramos, MD

About the provider

David Ramos, MD, FAAEM joined Salinas Valley Health Emergency Medical Group in 1998. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Ramos completed his general surgery internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas and his emergency medicine residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.

David Ramos grew up in a military family, so becoming an Army doctor was a natural fit. “As an intern, resident and then doctor in the Army, I had to quickly make critical decisions that affected hundreds, even thousands of lives.” Dr. Ramos was Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine from 2011-2015, and was Vice Chair from 2007-2011. As a member of the Salinas Valley Health Foundation Board of Governors, he serves on many committees both in the hospital and in the community. Dr. Ramos was also the medical director for the Sexual Assault Response Teams for Monterey from 2000-2018 and Santa Cruz counties from 2013-2018.

Dr. Ramos is fluent in English and Spanish. In his leisure time, Dr. Ramos enjoys skiing, riding horses and spending time with friends and family.
