Bioethics deals with the ethical and moral problems that occur in health
care. The Bioethics Committee at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System
offers support to our patients, their families and staff who are facing
difficult decisions in medical care.
The Committee consists of doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains and
- Listens to patients, families, doctors, nurses and other healthcare members
involved in difficult situations.
- Helps thinking-through these difficult and sometimes confusing times.
- Offers their own observations.
The Committee’s role is to offer advice. All healthcare decisions
must be made by patients, families and their doctors. All discussions
of the Committee are strictly confidential.
