SVMHS: Giving Back to the Salinas Valley & Monterey County
Since 1953, SVMHS has been dedicated to the health of the communities across
Monterey County, CA. During this time, we have grown from a small hospital
to a 266-bed acute care, public district hospital. We were built without
Federal funds and have not changed our tax rate for more than six decades.
Our status allows us to go above and beyond the call for standard treatment
and provide genuine care to you as a patient at our facilities.
When you come to SVMHS, you become the top priority. In fact, we maintain
the highest ratings for patient safety in our region and collaborate with
larger research and metro hospitals in the area so that we bring the highest
level of quality care to individuals and families in the Salinas Valley,
Monterey Peninsula and the surrounding region. Without any need to travel
for specialized care, our patients can recover while staying close to
home, to their family and to their friends.
Learn more about these foundational aspects of our community commitment:
Volunteering – Since 1953, volunteers have been an integral part of SVMHS. We
continue to provide rewarding volunteer opportunities for members of our
Foundation –The Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation works to ensure
that our healthcare system can continue to provide the best medical care
and services for our community. We do this through the generous support
or our donors.
Children’s Miracle Network –SVMH is a proud member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
100% of funds raised through this partnership stay local to help sick,
injured and special needs kids in our community. Funds raised through
donations to our local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals program
fund medical equipment and services for our Level III NICU, our 18 bed
Pediatrics Unit and Pediatric needs within the Emergency Department. Funds
are also granted to fund medically beneficial equipment and services for
individual children throughout Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties.
Medical History Museum – The SVMHS History Museum is designed to spark an interest in children
and young people interested in medical careers.
These are just a few examples of the ways that SVMHS has impacted the community.
We regularly hold outreach events, as well as educational classes and
support groups. Feel free to contact our hospital for more information
