David Kasting, MD David Kasting, MD
Director Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine

David S. Kasting, MD, a Neonatologist, was instrumental in establishing the Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital in December 2001. After graduating from Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis in 1971, he completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Stanford University Medical Center. He also completed fellowships in neonatology at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada and Stanford University Medical Center. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1979 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the Sub-Board of Neonatal Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Kasting is the Director Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine of Salinas Valley Memorial's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and is a Clinical Professor at Stanford University. In addition to the director-level positions he has held in Neonatology with leading medical centers, Dr. Kasting has directed a number of national medical conferences and has published in the Journal of Pediatrics.

Gregory Glasscock, PhD, MD, joins the medical staff at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) as the hospital's second neonatologist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The 4,000 square foot state-of-the-art NICU opened in late 2001. With Dr. Glasscock's arrival, Monterey County now has around-the-clock access to a neonatologist.

Dr. Glasscock received his PhD in physiology at University of California, Berkeley and his MD at the University of California, San Francisco. His residency was at Children's Hospital in Oakland. Before coming to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, he was attending Neonatologist at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View and the Lucille Salter Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto.

He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and participates in its Bio-Ethics subcommittee. Dr. Glasscock has two children, 12-year-old Brian and 21-year-old Lauren. He is an avid jogger and tennis player.
