Reverend Ken Nolen, D.Min, M.Div and Reverend M. Lillian Capehart, M.Div and D.Min (can)Please join us in welcoming our new chaplains.

Their office is located in the DRC-124 with the Volunteer and Healthcare Services Department and their phone number is 759-3259 (in house extension 3259). They will provide coverage seven day a week; hours will be variable so they are able to service all shifts.

Reverend Ken Nolen, D.Min, M.Div, is coming from Orlando Regional Healthcare System, where he served as the Trauma Chaplain from July, 1998 through May, 2000 and Spiritual Care Supervisor and Department Educator for 40+ chaplains plus spiritual care volunteers from May, 2000 through April, 2006.

Reverend M. Lillian Capehart, M.Div and D.Min (can) comes to us from Vitas Innovative Health Care, where she served as a hospice chaplain in the Walnut Creek and Petaluma, California locations from January, 2004 through August, 2005. Most recently, Lillian has been supporting Spiritual Care programs as a consultant for the Northern California V.A. Hospitals.

Both Ken and Lillian have come highly recommended and have extensive experience as stated above in not only hospital and hospice chaplaincy, but also in a variety of administrative positions from previous industry experience. They are committed to serving not only our patients and families, but also our staff and medical staff and they share a vision of partnership with our staff and Spiritual Care Volunteers.

Spiritual Care

Any member of the clergy may visit the hospital without being registered in our Spiritual Care Program. Members of the Clergy may visit seven days a week during normal visiting hours. For after hours visiting members of the clergy must check in with the security department before visiting.

The benefits of registering with the Volunteer Services Department as a Spiritual Care Volunteer:

  • Personal identification badge
  • 24 hour access to the hospital
  • Access to Spiritual Care Roster
  • Notification by phone when members of your congregation are hospitalized

How to Register

  • Complete a Spiritual Care Application.
  • Attend one of our quarterly Spiritual Care informational meetings.
  • Complete a background screening provided by the hospital at no cost to you.
  • Complete a TB Screening provided by the hospital at no cost to you.
  • Complete an Annual Safety Questionnaire. (Done at informational meeting)
