Amen Ness, MD, FACOG, is the region's first fulltime perinatologist. A 1979 graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM), Dr. Ness completed an internship in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) at the University of California, Los Angles, and an OB/GYN residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Ness continued his medical training and completed his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he also earned a Masters of Science degree in Pharmacology in Human Investigation.
A perinatologist is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology with additional training in the care of both the fetus and women with a high risk pregnancy. Using diagnostic tools including advanced ultrasound, a perinatologist consults and co-manages women with high risk pregnancies.
