Trauma care is one of the most critical services a hospital can provide its community. Salinas Valley Memorial currently handles approximately 400 trauma cases every year, and almost as many leave the county for advanced trauma care in Bay Area Hospitals.
Recognizing the need for a Level II Trauma Center in Monterey County, the Board of Directors at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, Administration and medical staff leadership are fully committed to implementing a Level II Trauma Center. It is the right thing to do for our patients, the community and our organization. We are working collaboratively with our physicians and Dr. David Spain, head of Stanford Hospital & Clinics Level I Trauma Center to implement the systems, procedures and technology needed to meet our high standards of clinical excellence.
We are committed to updating the community on the process and progress of achieving a Level II designation to better serve the healthcare needs of Monterey County. You will find regular community updates here.
