Warning signs of a heart attack

If you have any of these symptoms, CALL 9-1-1.

  • Pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of the chest, that lasts more than a few minutes, or goes away and returns
  • Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach
  • Shortness of breath—with or without chest pain
  • Other signs like breaking out in a cold sweat, or feeling nauseous or lightheaded
  • For women, as with men, chest pain /discomfort is a major warning sign, but women are more likely to also have other symptoms such as shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, nausea/vomiting and back or jaw pain
