Cardiac Education and Support
The regional Heart Program offers a variety of education and support groups free-of-charge to patients, their families and members of the community who want to learn more about regaining and maintaining a healthy heart. Some of our current offerings include:
Caring Hearts/Stress Management Support Group - Individuals who have had a heart attack or other cardiac event meet to share ideas and solutions for reducing stress and improving health.
Heart Health Nutrition Classes - These classes provide practical ideas and up-to-date information on nutrition. (Evening and daytime classes are offered.)
Pacemaker and Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Classes - Education addressing frequently asked questions for people who have a pacemaker or implantable defibrillator.
Heart Healthy Lecture Series - Free community lectures are available to the public throughout the year. Some of the topic titles are:
- Cardiac Risk Factors
- Cholesterol and Triglycerides
- Coronary Angioplasty
- Devices to Control Heart Rate
- Heart Failure
- High Blood Pressure's Effect on the Heart
- Importance of Aerobic Exercise
- Preventing Another Heart Attack (or other cardiac event)
- Stents (including drug-coated stents)
