Dana Rogers, RN, 2010 Nurse of the Year

Dana Rogers, RNCongratulations to Dana Rogers, RN, Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit (ICU/CCU), Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System's 2010 Nurse of the Year. Dana joined SVMHS in 1993 as a nursing assistant while attending the nursing program at Hartnell College. After graduating in 1995, she was a nurse in one of our critical care units and has worked in ICU/CCU for the past ten years. In addition to providing care for patients who require specialized care, Dana has created and implemented evidence based wound care initiatives that have improved patient care at SVMHS. She is known as a collaborator, a leader who teaches by example and a person whose ideas help enhance the lives of others at work and in the community.

 

 

 

Jeanne Hayashi, RN, 2009 Nurse of the Year

Congratulations to Jeanne Hayashi, RN, Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System's 2009 Nurse of the Year. She joined SVMHS as a nurse's aide in 1979 and graduated from the nursing program at Hartnell College in 1983. Jeanne is a staff nurse at the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and in a unique partnership, she shares AHN responsibilities with two other nurses. A member of the Magnet Steering Committee, Jeanne is known and respected as a passionate patient advocate and has initiated, led and participated in numerous collaborative efforts to implement evidence based nursing practices. She is a mentor to other nurses, and a partner with physicians, nurses and staff throughout SVMHS. 

 

 

 

Kathryn Maurer, RN, 2008 Nurse of the Year

Congratulations to Kathryn Maurer, RN, Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System's 2008 Nurse of the Year. After caring for her mother who had a chronic illness, Kathryn knew that she wanted to be a nurse. With a BS in biology and after her fourth child turned one year old, she enrolled in nursing school at Monterey Peninsula College (MPC). Graduating in 1995, she joined the Float Pool at SVMHS that same year, bringing the Float Pool nursing staff to three.
