Meet our Board of Directors

Nurses at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (SVMHS) deliver exceptional care within an innovative, collaborative culture. Our nurses provide day-to-day, evidenced-based patient care, act as an essential link between patients and physicians and help shape our hospital’s best practices. We respect and care for one another just as we care for our patients and have created an environment that supports, values, rewards and recognizes professional nurses. Our nurses are involved, engaged and vital members of our SVMHS family and the communities we serve. They also play a leadership role in expanding local, quality nursing education by serving as adjunct faculty for the nursing program at Hartnell College, supports SVMHS as a clinical training site for several colleges and universities and by developing specialized training courses at local community colleges. For a closer look at our organization, our nurses and the exciting developments led by our nursing team, read issues of our newsletter SVMHS Nurse.

The wage scale and benefit package for Registered Nurses is among the best in the United States. The ongoing professional development of nurses is a priority. Pay incentives are offered for national specialty certification along with generous continuing education benefits and tuition reimbursement. Since September 2005, SVMHS has hosted BSN and MSN programs of California State University, Dominguez Hills at our Ryan Ranch facility. Assistance with expenses for books and tuition is available.

Long before nurse/patient ratios were mandated by law in California, Salinas Valley Memorial acknowledged and respected the connection between RN staffing and safe, effective patient care. Our RN vacancy rate is significantly lower than the California and national averages. We are also proud that our RN turnover rate is less than half the statewide average.

If you are beginning your career as a Registered Nurse, you will benefit from our personalized 12-16 week orientation program that gradually and logically introduces you to your RN responsibilities. A clinical ladder program that rewards experience, commitment and involvement in patient care and nursing initiatives is part of our culture.

Located on California’s scenic Central Coast, Salinas is renowned for its natural beauty and abundance of cultural and recreational opportunities. Children and adults alike enjoy the pristine beaches, coastal mountains, world class golf courses and the close proximity to San Francisco to the north.
Join our team - Live and work the lifestyle you’ve always imagined.
