Board President Memo to Staff

As many of you are aware, our President and CEO, Pete Delgado, has tendered his resignation. We would like to express our gratitude for Pete’s outstanding service to our organization over the last decade, and we look forward to opportunities to honor Pete’s legacy and leadership over the coming months.

Pete has graciously committed to staying with us through the transition to new leadership. Last night our Board of Directors unanimously agreed to accept Pete’s resignation with an effective date of June 30, 2024. The search for our next President/CEO begins immediately. Elements of that search will include:

Formation of Search Committee:

The Board of Directors will establish a Search Committee. This committee will include representatives from the Board of Directors, hospital and medical staff, community, and other stakeholders with relevant expertise. The Search Committee will oversee the entire recruitment and selection process.

Engagement of Executive Search Firm:

To ensure a comprehensive and efficient search, the Board will engage an executive search firm with a strong track record in healthcare leadership recruitment. This firm will assist in identifying and vetting qualified candidates.

Inclusiveness - Input and Feedback:

We value the input of our staff and will create opportunities for you to provide input and feedback during this process. We will hold open forums and seek your input on the qualities and attributes you believe are important for our new President/CEO.

Transparency:

As a board, our standard operating principles include transparency. This process will be very transparent and will include regular updates to all Salinas Valley Health colleagues and the community.

Timeline:

Work begins immediately. The Board will act diligently to ensure that the selection process proceeds as expeditiously as possible while maintaining the highest standards of due diligence.

We understand that change can bring about uncertainties, but we are committed to ensuring a seamless transition as we continue to deliver outstanding care at Salinas Valley Health.
