Salinas Valley Health Materials Equipment Tech Receives STAR Award

Salinas Valley Health has recognized Israel Morales with the STAR Award for his admirable work ethic and dedication to staff and patients. Izzy, as he likes be to called, is a Materials Equipment Tech who exemplifies the Salinas Valley Health STAR values- Support, Teamwork, Accountability and Respect. He received the month of July STAR Award in a special ceremony this morning.
“This feels amazing! I am shocked, I didn’t expect it!” said Izzy Morales, Materials Equipment Tech. “My parents have been patients at Salinas Valley Health and they always said great things about the medical center and its staff, so I thought I want to work there. I am so glad I applied. I really enjoy my work and the amazing and supportive team I work with.”
“Izzy is an All Star! In his time with Salinas Valley Health, he has built relationships with his fellow team members and the departments that we serve. You can tell by Izzy’s work that he understands the connection his work has to patient care,” said Kyle Dixon, Manager, Materials Management. “He is always willing to help cover shifts and stays productive morning, noon, and night. It has been great to see him grow and I am excited to see his performance on his new night shift role.”
Izzy joined Salinas Valley Health in November of 2021. This is his first STAR Award. In her nomination, Tammy Lee, a Materials Equipment Tech shared, “Izzy is a wonderful young man. Not only is he very respectful, he has got to be one of the hardest workers I have ever had on my team. He is here for our patients and his actions show that.”
Several outstanding employees received STAR Award nominations for the month of July including Lisa Castillo, Rafael Perez, Ana Torres-Garcia and Jay-R Yasay. Every month, Salinas Valley Health recognizes two extraordinary employees, one with a DAISY Award (for nurses) and another with a STAR Award (for all staff). Nominations can be submitted by patients, visitors and staff. Nomination forms and drop boxes are located throughout the medical center.
