Whether maintaining or mending your heart, Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System offers lots of opportunities to learn about cardiac health. Special classes and support groups promote good health in more ways than one. They help people learn to lead healthy lives despite being faced with heart disease.
Nutrition Patients admitted to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital's Heart Program benefit from nutrition services that provide the tools for improving and maintaining their heart health. Patients are able to receive individualized counseling with a registered dietitian regarding management of the nutrition component of "heart-healing and heart-wellness."

Cardiac Education and Support
The Regional Heart Program offers a variety of education programs and support groups at no charge to patients, their families and members of the community who want to learn more about regaining and maintaining a healthy heart. Some of our current offerings are listed below and more information is available by calling the Health Promotion department at (831) 759-1890.
Caring Hearts/Stress Management Support Group
Individuals who have had a cardiac events or have cardiac issues meet to share ideas and solutions for reducing stress, improving heart health and receive emotional support from the group. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Cardiac Fitness Center.
Pacemaker and Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Classes
These address "frequently asked questions" for people who have had a pacemaker or implantable defibrillator. The class meets the 1st Tuesday of even number months from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. in the Cardiac Fitness Center.
Heart Healthy Lecture Series
Free community lectures are available to the public throughout the year.
