Exercise Challenge 2017 is a FREE 10-week exercise program that begins January 30, 2017 and runs through April 9, 2017. This program is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourages people to get regular aerobic exercise. This program is open to all individuals and organizations in Monterey County except those which gather solely for the purpose of exercising such as an athletic club. Ask The Experts
This special Ask The Experts is a FREE community event focused on your Heart Health. Join Vincent DeFilippi, MD, FACS; Harlan Grogin, MD, FACC; Christopher Oh, MD, FACC; and Steven Regwan, DO, FACC for a unique Ask the Experts experience that will get you to think differently about your heart health.
Ask The Experts will be held Thursday, February 16th at the Ryan Ranch Center for Advanced Diagnostic Imaging located at 5 Lower Ragsdale Drive in Monterey. This is a FREE event and open to the public with plenty of easy access parking. This fun and informative evening includes blood pressure screenings, health and wellness information, interactive presentations, appetizers, giveaways and more. Spanish language translation available upon RSVP. Seats are limited.

Go Red for Women
At SVMHS, employees can purchase the Go Red for Women Pin to support the fight against heart disease, women's No. 1 killer. Purchasing the pin allows employees to wear jeans to work each Friday during the Month of February. $5 RED Dress Pins will be sold all month long at the Health Promotion office, Human Resources, Volunteer Services office and Cardiac Wellness Center. The public can support the cause by buying a pin as well. Contact Health Promotions at (831) 759-1890 or locations around the SVMHS campus where you can purchase a RED Dress Pin.

Heart Healthy Recipes
SVMHS, the Salinas Californian and Star Market in Salinas are joining forces during February to bring you fabulous heart healthy recipes!
Each recipe is personally crafted by Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Executive Chef Jason Giles. Chef Jason is 2016-2017 American Culinary Federation Chef of the Year.
A new recipe will be featured each Wednesday in the Lifestyle section of the Salinas Californian and you can pick up your recipe cards and ingredients at Star Market in Salinas, at the corner of Main Street and Blanco Road. Click here to see this week’s featured recipe.
Mended Hearts is the country's longest running peer-to-peer cardiac support group, offering a unique physician-endorsed support model to help heart patients, families and caregivers. Every baby born at SVMH during the month of February will go home with a hand-made red hat courtesy of our own dedicated hat making volunteers and the American Heart Association Little Hats Big Hearts campaign.
Heart & Sole Race
Now is the time to start thinking about early registration for this year's Heart & Sole Race! Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System is proud to present the 20th annual Heart & Sole Race, which is a 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk.
