There are different types of psychological therapies that are available to treat
fibromyalgia. Examples include:
(CBT)—This is a form of talk therapy that focuses on your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Relaxation-based therapy—This includes learning strategies, like meditation, to reduce stress.Biofeedback—During a biofeedback session, a therapist guides you to relax certain muscles or control breathing, while an electronic device shows your body’s response.
Other therapies that may help to alleviate fibromyalgia pain and symptoms include: Physical therapyHeat treatmentsMassageAcupuncture and acupressureTrigger point therapyMyofascial release (a special type of therapy that involves manipulating connective tissue with pressure)Mind-body therapies such as yoga, Tai chi, relaxation therapy, or meditation
