LIFELINE - Help is just a button away.
Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System’s Service League operates the only 24-hour personal emergency response service in Monterey County – it’s called Lifeline. Clients simply press their waterproof necklace or wrist medical alert button and it puts them in touch with help in seconds. For many, especially seniors, Lifeline not only supports independence, it increases confidence and peace of mind. Lifeline also offers a medical alert button with built-in fall detection. If you fall and you are not able to push your button, the button detects your fall and automatically sends a signal to Lifeline to get you help immediately.
Besides the in-home Lifeline service, the Service League is now offering Philips Lifeline’s newest innovation – a wearable pendant with built-in GPS and automatic fall detection. Active seniors can now feel free to be out and about and still get help if needed when they are away from their home.
The SVMHS Service League launched the Lifeline Program in 1989 and serves hundreds of clients. Financial assistance is also available for those individuals who cannot afford the nominal monthly fee. In addition to the popular Lifeline pendant, the Service League offers the Philips medication dispenser to assist with managing daily medications. Your medications are pre-loaded and dispensed at the times set by your caregiver.
LIFELINE is a 24-hour emergency response program that gives you and your loved ones the reassurance that help is never out of reach. This service will give you the confidence and freedom to live on your own, knowing there is someone standing by 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, responding within seconds at the press of a button.

This is a FREE service for individuals who live alone, especially for those with various medical conditions. Each morning between the hours of 8:30 and 11:00 a.m., a Service League Volunteer phones the homes of Tele-Care members at the time requested by them. If there is no answer, a second call is made to alert someone who lives nearby (a neighbor, friend, or relative) to be sure that the Tele-Care member is all right. The Service League is pleased to provide this service to our community at no cost to you.
