Education & Support
Since 1990, the Cancer Program of education and support has grown from one general support group and two annual educational presentations to the current offering of more than ten regularly scheduled workshops and support groups. Almost three hundred families are on the mailing list, having attended one or more events in the past year. All of our support groups are facilitated by credentialed health care professionals. They are free and are offered to the community as a whole, not just patients at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. Education plays an important part in a cancer patient's ability to cope. The Comprehensive Cancer Resource Center will allow us to expand our programs even further. The facility will have pamphlets, videos, tapes and Internet access.
