Breast Health Specialist

At Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, the Breast Health Specialist is here to provide information and guidance with any breast health question or problem. If there is a diagnosis of cancer, she is here to support you and your family during the entire breast cancer experience.

The Breast Health Specialist is an Oncology Certified, Registered Nurse with specialized training in breast health. She serves patients and their families, one-on-one, to educate, schedule appointments, explain medical terms, and discuss treatment choices. She works with our entire team of physicians to offer the best treatment plan for each individual patient.

Our Breast Health Specialist will help you cope with all the tasks, decisions and emotions that you may face throughout screening, diagnosis and treatment. Support, and compassionate care continue for as long as you need it, regardless of whether you are diagnosed with breast cancer or another breast health issue. Our goal is to see that you have the resources, expertise, and the technology to successfully recover.

Carol Maynard, RN, OCN

Carol is a Certified Oncology nurse with 14 years experience including special focus on patient symptom management and palliative care.  She has also had specialized training in all aspects of breast health and is a Certified Breast Health Navigator.  The Monterey Bay Area has been her home for over 35 years and she has worked in both Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. Carol is a patient advocate who promotes the physical and emotional well being of patients and their families.
