Heart and Sole Race

Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System is proud to present the 11th Annual Heart & Sole 2008. Heart & Sole is a 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk, which will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, 8:30 a.m. Rain or Shine at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Proceeds from this event benefit Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital's Children's Miracle Network.

Additional presenting sponsors this year include: The Big Sur International’s Just Run Club for kids, Everett Alvarez High School NJROTC and The Salinas Jaycees.

The Children's Miracle Network is a national charity comprised of 170 hospitals throughout the United States. Salinas Valley Memorial has been a CMN Hospital since 1989. In that time, over $3 million has been raised locally to help children throughout the Central Coast. Most importantly, all donations stay local for our area children. This would not be possible without our generous sponsors! .

Course:
5k and 10k race: 8:30 a.m.  Flat, paved residential streets surrounding Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital; 10K course will run twice.

“Just Run” children’s race: 
Children ages 9-12, 1 mile race – 9:45 a.m.
Children ages 5-8 ½ mile race – 10:00 a.m.
Toddler Trot ages 1-4 at 10:15 a.m.

Race Divisions:
10K & 5K categories: Ages: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

Team (5k Teams Only):
Teams consist of only 3 members (no age divisions). Team individuals are also eligible for awards in individual age groups. Begin forming your teams now, with a group of competitive racers. Complete the form below and we’ll do the rest. Recruit your friends and co-workers and pick a team name. Team entries must be submitted at the same time/in the same envelope. (all teams must pre-register by 4/25/08, team changes not allowed on race day.) Questions, call Kandee at 209- 795-7832.

• 10K: Custom medals three deep in each age group. Top male/female overall to receive $50 cash.
• 5K: Custom medals three deep in each age group. Top male/female overall to receive $50 cash.
  Wheelchair Division:  Overall male and female.
• Team/Corporate Division: Three individuals per team; 5K and 10K; male, female, coed teams.
• Children’s Run:  Custom “Just Run” medals to ALL finishers
• Post Race Drawing:  Numerous prizes from local businesses
  

Directions
From Monterey Peninsula, take Highway 68 into Salinas. Highway 68 becomes Main Street. Turn right off Main Street onto East Romie Lane. From North, take Highway 101 to John Street exit. Turn right on John Street (West). Then left on Abbott street and right on Romie Lane. From South, take Highway. 101 to "Monterey Peninsula" exit. Follow "Peninsula" signs onto Sanborn Road (West). Turn right on Abbott Street, then left on Romie Lane.

Online registration closes May 11th at 5pm. You can still register on race day. You just need to be at the Heart and Sole race starting at 7:15am to register in person, since the race begins at 8:30am.
