Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice

VNA logoThe non-profit Central Coast Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice has provided high-quality home care services in this region since 1951. All ages and diagnoses are served and 24-hour care is available. Visit VNA and Hospice at www.ccvna.com.

VNA provides care to all who are in need, within available VNA resources as provided by generous gifts from the community. It is a non-profit organization, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that serves without compensation. VNA provides more than 75,000 home health visits each year, including over 3,000 pediatric visits by the only specialized pediatric home health care team in this region. It is the largest and oldest home health agency in Monterey and San Benito counties. They have a staff of more than 300 employees and, in addition, more than 70 physicians who provide referrals or serve as Medical Directors or Advisors. They provide a wider scope of home services and therapies than any other home health organization in Monterey or San Benito County. VNA is state licensed and Medicare certified.

About UsIn addition to providing professional, caring health care in the patients' homes, VNA operates three Adult Day Centers in Salinas, Seaside and Monterey to care for the frail elderly, including Alzheimer's and stroke victims, with sliding-scale fees. They offer extended in-home care to those recovering from illness or who are frail, disabled or have a chronic medical condition VNA provides palliative and supportive hospice care to all terminally ill people and their families regardless of age, gender, nationality, race, creed, sexual orientation, disability, diagnosis, availability of a primary care giver or ability to pay. A highly qualified, specially trained team of VNA hospice professionals and volunteers work together to meet the physiological, psychological, social, spiritual and economic needs of clients and families facing terminal illness and bereavement.

VNA services include:

  • Home nursing care with clinical specialties in:
    Respiratory care, enterostomal and skin care, high-risk pregnancy, oncology / cancer care, maternal child care, pediatric care, cardiac care, home infusion therapy, diabetes care, EKG and cardiopulmonary testing and psychiatry
  • Hospice services
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapies
  • Dietary and nutritional counseling
  • Medical social workers
  • Flu vaccination clinics
  • Adult Day Care and Adult Day Health Care programs
  • Stroke, Handicapped Adult Rehabilitation & Education program (SHARE)
  • Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC)
