Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital is a Public District Hospital which is part of the Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System is an integrated network of health care programs, services and facilities. At the core of the system is a 269-bed acute care hospital with several distinct specializations and programs, including the Harden Memorial Heart Program, Joint and Spine Centers of Excellence, a Comprehensive Cancer Resource Center, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Through affiliations and partnerships, Salinas Valley Memorial also meets community health care needs through the Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center in Monterey's Ryan Ranch, a network of urgent care and surgery centers, a sleep center, the region's only perinatal diagnostic center, and an Emergency Department that is staffed with physicians who are all board-certified in emergency medicine, seeing 44,000 patients per year. As of today 2/01/2012 Salinas Valley Memorial employs 1,645 people and the Medical Staff includes 265 board-certified physicians across a range of specialties.
