The Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) publicly-elected
Board of Directors voted today to unanimously appoint Alfred Diaz-Infante
to a position on the Board of Directors. Rafael Garcia, a board member
since 2012, resigned his post due to personal reasons. Diaz-Infante will
fill this position until the next election in November 2018.
“We congratulate Alfred Diaz-Infante,” says Pete Delgado, President/CEO
of Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. “He knows the community
well and has a long history of community service. We look forward to his
input in helping us advance the mission of the organization and health
and wellness of our community.”
Alfred Diaz-Infante was born and raised in Salinas and is the President/CEO
of Community Housing Improvement Systems and Planning Association, Inc
(CHISPA). He is a former president of the Hartnell College Foundation,
has served the Community Foundation for Monterey County and other non-profit
groups. Diaz-Infante holds an MBA with an emphasis in Real Estate and
Urban Land Economics from the University of California Berkeley and earned
his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from California State University
Sacramento.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity,” says Alfred Diaz-Infante.
“I know my community well and am aware of its needs. I look forward
to working with the other board members of this public Healthcare District.”
The Board announced the vacancy in late January and solicited applicants
for the appointment. While the requirement is to post the announcement
in three conspicuous locations in the zone, Salinas Valley Memorial also
advertised in the Californian and El Sol; distributed a news release and
posted it on the svmh.com website; created front page presence on the
Healthcare System website with an online application process; created
an in-person application process, posted notices in social media, and
posted fliers in six key locations throughout the zone.
Salinas Valley Memorial is a public district healthcare system, governed
by a publicly-elected Board of Directors. Each Board member serves a staggered,
four year term, and each represents a specific zone within the district.
Chris Orman represents District 1 and is President of the SVMHS Board
of Directors. Margaret D’Arrigo-Martin is Vice President and represents
District 4; Carmen Gil, MPA serves as Secretary and represents District
5; newly elected member and Assistant Treasurer Carissa Purnell, EdD represents
District 2. Board meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month
except for the months of November and December, when meetings are held
on the third Thursday of the month.
