Ingredients and Preparation

New York strip steak, cut into two portions½ pound
Butter1 teaspoon
Olive oil1 teaspoon
Shallot, minced1
Reduced-fat sour cream2 tablespoons
Worcestershire sauce¼ teaspoon
Dash of hot sauce (eg, Tabasco)

  2. Prepare broiler (on high setting, if applicable). Broil steaks to desired degree of doneness, about 6-9 minutes per side.
  3. Meanwhile, heat butter and oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add shallot and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce.
  4. Top steaks with shallot-cream sauce and serve.
