Monterey County is located on the Central Coast of California and is home
to the spectacular Big Sur coastline and the rich, fertile Salinas Valley.
We are just two hours from San Francisco, and within driving distance
of Lake Tahoe and Los Angeles. Just down the road are the vineyards of
Napa and Sonoma and Monterey County has also established itself as one
of the world's premier wine-producing regions. There are 17 golf courses
here, which is why our area is a world-class golf destination. With 10
colleges and universities within a 40-mile radius, we are also a center
of higher education. Then there are an endless variety of recreational
and cultural activities including the National Steinbeck Center located
in the heart of charming Old Town Salinas and the world-famous Monterey
Bay Aquarium on the water in Monterey. Racing fans flock to Laguna Seca.
The Monterey County Fairgrounds are an annual pilgrimage for jazz lovers
and fans of the world renowned Monterey Jazz Festival. For more information
