Recruitment firm considered for national search
SALINAS, CA August 21, 2012 – The Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System Board of Directors this week will vote on the retention of a recruitment firm that will conduct a nationwide search for a permanent President/CEO for Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS). The SVMHS board directors who were present at a special board meeting on August 16th voted unanimously to recommend the retention of Witt/Kieffer, an executive search firm operating out of Los Angeles that specializes in healthcare recruiting. Of the five firms originally considered, the field was narrowed to two, and both companies made a presentation at last week’s board meeting.
“Salinas Valley Memorial is moving forward, and finding the right leader will be critical,” said Jim Gattis, president of the Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System Board of Directors. “We are confident that with the help of Witt/Kieffer we will be able to find just the right person to lead Salinas Valley Memorial through the next several years, which promise to be a dynamic time with the implementation of healthcare reform. What is most important to the board is that we have a leader dedicated to maintaining the outstanding quality of care that the people of our healthcare district deserve.”
Salinas Valley Memorial has been nationally recognized for quality by independent reviewers. Consumer Reports ranked SVMHS 8th in the state for patient safety—the only Monterey County hospital in the top 90 hospitals listed by Consumer Reports. The Leapfrog group, another reviewer of hospital quality, gave SVMHS the only “A” grade for patient safety.
If the full board approves the retention of Witt/Kieffer at its meeting on Thursday, work will begin on the national CEO search immediately so that a permanent President/CEO can be on board as soon as possible.
