Leapfrog Group Release Hospital Safety Scores
July 11, 2012 (Salians) - Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System’s (SVMHS) commitment to patient safety is getting national recognition, as The Leapfrog Group recently recognized SVMHS as one of the top hospitals in the state for patient safety.
Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System received the highest possible patient safety score from the Leapfrog Group, as the only Monterey County hospital to earn an “A” . The study analyzed 2,600 hospitals nationwide and 264 in California. 41% of California hospitals received a “C” grade or lower, Each hospital’s grade was calculated using publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors and infections. The A, B, C, D or F grades were derived from expert analysis of publicly available data using 26 evidence-based national measures of hospital safety.
